That depends on what you’re coming with – some people come for a few months, others stay longer. We’ll review together as we go.
The total number of sessions is determined by your needs, with short-term work usually involving 8-10 sessions and long-term 10+ sessions
That’s totally okay. Many people start therapy just knowing they want something to feel different. That’s more than enough.
Absolutely. Everything shared in our sessions stays between us, unless there’s a serious risk of harm to yourself or others (which we’ll talk about in our session) and then I have a safeguarding process which we can discuss in our first session together.
That’s completely up to you. In our first session we will run through some paperwork which clearly outlines how to terminate therapy should you wish to do so at any point along the journey
It’s a style of psychotherapy called Transactional Analysis that looks at the ‘scripts’ we write early in life – based on our relationships and experiences – and how they still play out today. It’s powerful stuff, but it’s always collaborative and paced to suit you.
Before I trained in psychotherapy, I spent over 25 years in people-focused corporate roles where I often found myself as the go-to listener. Eventually, I realised that listening – actively listening – and helping, was what I was most interested in. I then volunteered as a Samaritan for 5 years and that’s what led me to become a psychotherapeutic counsellor .
